A further 22 aircraft were lost on the operation. The centre and south of the city were badly damaged by fire. Several important factories were destroyed, including the Siegmar tank engine plant. |
| Reason for Aircraft Loss | F/Sgt. Antonek, the only survivor, reported that shortly before reaching the target he heard a loud bang, the aircraft flipped over and went into a dive; he bailed out and saw nothing of his crew. He believed the cause to be a mid-air collision. |
