Miscellaneous Information
Adrian was born on 31 August 1917 in Cornwall, Ontario. His father was a grocery clerk and both he an his mother were also born in Cornwall. His father died in September 1918 when Adrian was only one year old. His mother re-married and he had two half sisters, Laura and Patricia LaPlante. Adrian attended St. Gregory’s Separate School 1929-1933, and Oshawa Collegiate and Vocational Institute 1933-1936. The enjoyed skating and his hobbies were the radio and photography. Adrian worked for General Motors, Oshawa, as a motor mechanic 1940-1941 and between 1941–1942 at 20 E.F.T.S, Oshawa, also as a mechanic. |
On 19 May 1942 Adrian enlisted and after training embarked for the U.K. on 16 July 1943. After arrival at 3 PRC on 23 July he went to 20(P) AFU on 24 August 1943, 23 OTU 18 January 1944, 22 OTU 15 March 1944, 61 Base 17 May 1944 and 425 Squadron on 15 June 1944. He was killed just over a month later. |
The bomb aimer aboard this aircraft, R/194280 Sgt J.C. Arsenault survived the crash and became a PoW, number 263743. He hailed from Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA. He was incarcerated in Stalag Luft IVB. |

Operation | Wesseling synthetic oil plant. 194 aircraft, 1 lost. A highly successful raid with good PFF marking. Approximately 1000 tons of bombs fell on the works in just 20 minutes. Despite more than 600 workers being present, their excellent air-raid shelters meant that only three were killed. Some bombs fell on the nearby town but again casualties were light. |
