Op het achterliggende gebied stortte op 8 April 1943 een Britse Wellington bommenwerper met het serienummer HE592 neer. Die dag waren 392 toestellen opgestegen om het Ruhrgebied te bombarderen. Hiervan gingen er die nacht 17 verloren. De Wellington HE592 werd op de terugweg van Duisburg door de Flak (luchtafweergeschut) geraakt
Translation "On April 8, 1943, a British Wellington bomber with the serial number HE592 of 425 Sqn RCAF,crashed in this area. That day, 392 aircraft took off to bomb the Ruhr area. Of these, they lost 17 that night. Wellington HE592 was hit by Flak (anti-aircraft guns) on the way back from Duisburg" |
