Miscellaneous Information
Paul was born on 28 March 1914 at Newcomerstown, Ohio. His father was a farmer born in Pennsylvania and his mother was born in Ohio. Both parents were deceased by the time of Paul's enlistment as is an un-named brother who died in infancy. He lived with an aunt Mrs. Matilda Tufford of Newcomerstown at the time of enlistment. Paul attended Newcomerstown High School, 1930-1939 on a Technical Course and also a 72 hour C.A.A. Pilot’s ground course during 1940. His sport interests were swimming and hunting. He worked for Heller Brothers. Co. In Newcomerstown 1933-1940 in machine shop and sawfile as well as for the National Acme Co. in Cleveland as an operator on Bullard Vertical Turret Lathe, same dates. (possibly whilst studying for the technical course he took at High School). |
Paul enlisted on 9 January 1941 and embarked from Halifax on 3 November 1941 for the U.K. He arrived at 3 PRC on 14 November 1941, 3 FTS 2 December 1941, 25 OTU 2 February 1942 and 101 Squadron 15 September 1942. He sadly lost his life just five days later. |
