Miscellaneous Information
The Germans buried six bodies (out of 14 from the two aircraft, which crashed close together) in a communal grave at Germering and the British authorities could only individually identify five of them. |
James was born on 15 September 1921 in Toronto. His father was a tailor (deceased by the time of james's enlistment) born in Glasgow, Scotland and his mother was also born in Scotland. The schools he attended were Howard 1926-1934 (General), Parkdale, 1934-1936 (General) and Western 1936-1937 (Commercial). The sports James enjoyed were swimming, baseball and track and field events. He started off working for Jardine & Co. as a salesman in 1937 but left to join Brown & Barlow as a Sales Rep from 1937-1942 until he enlisted. |
He enlisted on 21 July 1942 and after training embarked from Canada on 22 October 1943, arriving at 3 RCAF PRC on 31 October 1943. He then went to 7 AOS 1 February 1944, 22 OTU. 7 March 1944, 1659 CU 27 May 1944, 419 Sqn, 8 July 1944 and then to 405 Squadron 27 September 1944. |
