Miscellaneous Information
William was born on 29 March 1918 at Preston, England. Both parents were born in England; his father, who was retired by the time of William's enlistment, in Preston and his mother in Wigan. The schools he attended were General Byng 1925-1930, Sandwich Collegiate 1930-1933 and that was followed by Windsor -Walkerville Vocational, 1933- 1936. He then went to Cass Technical night school between 1936-1937 where he studied trigonometry, geometry and electricity. His sport interests were rugby, basketball and baseball. William worked for Canadian Industries Ltd. Windsor as an electrician’s helper 1936-1938 and was then promoted to a cost clerk, 1938-1940. |
On 22 June 1940 William had enlisted and after training he was posted to the U.K. After embarking from Canada he arrived at 3PRC on 20 April 1941, 2 S.S. 3 May 1941 and arrived at 21 OTU on 31 May 1941. William was sadly to lose his life on 28 July 1941. |
