Miscellaneous Information
Thomas was born in Brant County, Ontario on 23 May 1924. His father was born in Plattsville, Ontario and he worked as a carpenter, his mother (deceased) was born in Orangeville, Ontario. He had two sisters, Margot and Gwendolyn, both married. The schools Thomas attended were St. George Public, 1929-1936 (High School Entrance), and St. George Continuation, 1936-1942. (Senior Matric). As he was still a student when he enlisted, no employment is shown. He played hockey and his hobby was woodwork. |
Thomas enlisted on 27 October 1942 and embarked for the U.K. on 30 March 1944. He arrived at 3 PRC 8 April 1944, 15 (P) AFU 23 May 1944, 14 OTU 8 August 1944, 51 Base 28 October 1944, 1654 CU 11 February 1945 and 619 Squadron 8 March 1945. Thomas sadly lost his young life on 17 March 1945, just 9 days later. |
