Born 1920, Boston. His mother Susanna died in December 1932 and Walter remarried to Annie Louisa Thompson (née Hall) in June 1934 in Boston. Walter junior was a pupil at Boston Grammar School, he worked as a storeman at Central Garage, High Street, Boston and then worked for his Father in the family firm of Coal merchants, Messer's Brunning & Thatcher, the family lived in Wyberton West Road, Boston. |

Reason for Loss | Aircraft took of from Woodhall Spa detailed to attack targets in Hamburg. Aircraft lost without trace. Shot down by a night-fighter flown by Oblt. Ludwig Becker of 12./NJG1 15km East of Texel over the North Sea at 0310 hrs. This was Becker's 44th and last victory, he was killed on 26 February 1943, when his night-fighter crashed into the North Sea. |
