Reason for Loss | Two of the pairs (F/L Hartley - F/Sgt Hughes and F/L Lees - F/L Adams) were engagng each other in air combat when three of the aircraft collided in mid-air. F/L Hartley saw one of them going down with part of one wing missing and the other two already burning on the ground. All three pilots were killed. |
