He was born in 1918 in Istanbul. In April 1943, while in the Middle East, he was detached from the Army to the 13th Light Bombardment Squadron to be trained as an observer. Graduating in November, he transferred to the Air Force and took part in operations on the Middle East and Italian Fronts. Killed 9 June 1944 at Biferno Airfield, Italy, when the Baltimore-type aircraft of the 13th Light Bombardment Squadron, in which he was crewing, returning from a successful mission to bomb targets in Yugoslavia, ran off the airfield runway on landing and overturned." |
