| Reason for Aircraft Loss | Waitress at HQ Bomber Command, died of injuries sustained in a road accident in Maesteg hospital while at home on leave from August 16th. She went on a tandem ride with her brother Roy to Laleston the following morning. Whilst passing over a small bridge on the old road near Nantyffyllon they pulled over to let a lorry pass and hit a lamp post with the rear handlebars. Roy suffered a head injury requiring 12 stitches but Myra suffered brain lacerations and a fractured skull and died in Maesteg hospital without regaining consciousness. |
