Tegen het hierachter gelegen duin stortte op 23 maart 1945 de Stirling LK209 MA-T van 161 Squadron van de Royal Air Force neer. De viermotorige bommenwerper was uitgestuurd voor een wapendropping ten behoeve de verzetsheweging in Nederiand.
