| Reason for Aircraft Loss | Shot down on the return leg, possibly by 'friendly fire' from an American night-fighter, with the Agents still aboard (due to bad weather in the drop zone). The pilot, F/L Terence Helfer DFC, was blown out of the cockpit and survived the drop, despite his parachute being alight. He was badly burned about the face and hands. The aircraft came down at Bischent Hill, about 1km west of Maulusmühle station. |
