Miscellaneous Information
Joseph wasborn at London, Ontario on 17 September 1923. His father was a brewery worker, born in Northamptonshire, England and his mother was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He had a younger brother James and two sisters, Laura and Mary. His schools were Governor Simcoe School, Ontario 1928-1936 and London Central Collegiate Institute 1936-1941. For sport he played golf and hockey. Between 1938 and 1941 he worked at the John Innes (Thames Valley) Golf Club in London, Ontario as an assistant, and then for C.S. Hyman Co. In Ontario as an office clerk, 1941-1942, before enlisting on 9 June 1942. |
After his enlistment and training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from USA on 8 October 1943. He then proceeded to 3 PRC on 17 October, 11 (P) AFU. 16 November 1943, 22 OTU 7 March 1944, 1664 CU 27 May 1944 and 405 Squadron on 26 June 1944. Sadly Joseph then lost his life later that year on 22 December 1944. |
