Miscellaneous Information
Joseph was born at Montreal, Quebec on 12 December 1920. He went by the name Barney. Both parents were born in Russia and his father worked as a labourer. He had two sisters, Mary and Ann and brothers Stanley and John. The school he attended was Edward Murphy in Montreal 1926- 1936 where he completed his Primary school courses (High School Entrance). He then went to work as a Candy Maker 1936-1937 at St. Lawrence Candy in Montreal and then as a tailor, 1937-1939, at Tip Top Tailors in Toronto. Joseph moved back to Montreal but was out of work between 1940-1941. The main sports he enjoyed were hockey and baseball. |
Joseph enlisted on 13 January 1942 and after initial training Embarked from New York on 9 March 1943, arriving in the U.K. at 3PRC on 18 March. He was at ACRC, 27 September 1943, 14 ITW 16 October 1943, 7 AGS 11 December 1943, 22 OTU 7 March 1944, and 405 Squadron 26 June 1944. Joseph sadly lost his life from here on 22 December 1944. |
