| Memorial Text | This memorial is dedicated to those men and women who served at RAF Leeming during World War II, including those from the Royal Canadian Air Force Squadrons, whose members came from all parts of the Commonwealth from 1942 to 1945; 405 Vancouver, 408 Goose, 419 Moose, 427 Lion, 429 Bison. Also, to the many Civilians who supported them during their term of duty in North Yorkshire. We remember too the RAF Squadrons who preceded the Canadians from 1940 - 1942; 7 - 10 - 35 -77 - 102 - 219. To those who paid the supreme sacrifice, we will remember them. Dedicated June 19, 1993 |

Miscellaneous Information
| Norman was born at Kirkcaldy, Scotland on 20 December 1921. Both parents were born in Scotland. He had one brother William John Kaye. He attended Lonsdale School 1929-1935 and North Vancouver High school 1935-1939 (Jnr.Matric). The sports he was involved in were sailing, swimming, hiking and skiing. He could also drive a car. Norman worked as a Plater’s helper with North Vancouver Ship Repairs Ltd. from 1940 onwards and enlisted on 23 October 1941. |
| After his initial training he was sent to the U.K. and arrived at 3PRC on 6 November 1942. He then went on to 10 (0) AFU 14 December 1942, 23 OTU 23 February 1943, 429 Sqn. 14 May 1943, 22 OTU 12 September 1943, 61 Base 25 January 1944 and eventually, 427 Squadron on 12 March 1944. |
