Vliegtuigcrash Handley Page Halifax MKII JD149 DY-H, 102 (Ceylon) Sqn Waddenzee 3 km ten westen van Hippolvtushoef. Op 27 Mei 1943 om 23.26 ur was de Halifax MKII bommenwerper opgestegen van vliegeld Pocklington in Engeland met aan boord zeven bemanningsleden. De Halifax was op een bombar-dementsmissie naar de Duitse stad Essen. De zware bommenwerper werd om 01.44 ur door een Duitse nachtjager neergeschoten
