In de nacht van 30 April op 1 Mei 1943 werd hun Halifax II, JB.803 "G* bommenwerper op de terugweg van een bombardementsvlucht naar Essen in het Ruhrgebied door en Duitse nachtjager onderschept. Het vliegtuig moest en noodlanding maken in de Noordpolder, tussen Muiden en Muiderberg. Parsons, Hannam, Shepherd en Louth sprongen met hum parachute wit het vliegtuig. Zij kwamen in het IJsselmeer terecht en verdronken. Watson en Crawford bleven aan boord van het toestel en kwamen om bi de noodlanding. Allen werden begraven op de Algemene begraafplaats in Muiden, behalve Louth, die nog altijd vermist is.
Translation "On the night of April 30 to May 1, 1943, their Halifax II, JB.803 "G* bomber was intercepted by a German nightfighter on the way back from a bombing flight to Essen in the Ruhr area. The plane had to make an emergency landing in the Noordpolder, between Muiden and Muiderberg. Parsons, Shepherd and Louth jumped from the plane. They ended up in the IJsselmeer and drowned. Crawford remained on board and died in the emergency landing. All were buried at the General Cemetery in Muiden, except for Louth, who is still missing." |
