Miscellaneous Information
Wilfrid was born on 29 April 1923 at Westport, Ontario. His father was a farmer and both parents were born in Westport. He was one of ten children. His siblings were. John G., M. Joseph, James L., T. Gerald, C. Kevin, F. Eugene, and Corporal T. P. , RCAF overseas. The two sisters were Mary F. and M. Cecelia. The schools he attended were S.S #1 Pedford 1929-1934 (Entrance)and Westport Continuation 1934- 1941 (Senior Matric). His sporting interests were hockey and softball. He worked as a machine operator for the Canadian Locomotive Company from 1941 until enlisting on 7 May 1942. |
After embarking from Canada on 30 June 1943 he arrived in the U.K. at 3 PRC on 8 July 1943. He went on to 1(0)AFU 27 July 1943, 5 AOS 28 August 1943, 12 OTU 19 October 1943, 31 Base 17 March 1944 and 115 Squadron 11 June 1944. It was from there that Wilfrid sadly lost his life on 17 September 1944. |
