Miscellaneous Information
Michael was born on 11 December 1919 at Crippsdale, Alberta. His father was a Roadmaster for C.N.R and was born in Ireland and his mother was born in Ontario. He had a sister Mary and three brothers. One, Albert, was in the RCN, P/O Harry Patrick was in RCAF as was the other, F/L Pete Patrick. He attended Camrose Public school 1925-1933 (grade 8) and Camrose High 1933-1937 (Snr. Matric). He joined in most general sports including hockey, golf , baseball etc. He also liked to fish and hunt. He worked a few months during the season for both the Roamers Hockey Club 1938-1939 and then the Calgary Stampeders Hockey Club 1939-1940. After that he was a Pipe Fitter at the Canadian Mining and Smelting Co. from 1940 onwards. |
On 28 July 1941 Michael enlisted and after training was sent to the U.K. where he arrived at 3 PRC on 30 July 1942. He was then at 3 (0) AFU on 8 August 1942, 23 OTU 25 August 1942, and 427 Squadron on 11 November 1942. Sadly Michael lost his life the following year on 22 January 1943. |
