Miscellaneous Information
Maurice was born on 2 September 1922 at Pointe Claire , Quebec. His father was born in Eastern Maryland, USA, and worked as a Salesman, and his mother was born in Montreal (Both shown as American). The schools he attended were Willingdon, Montreal 1927-1935, West Hil , Montreal 1935-1939 (advanced maths). His hobby was making model aircraft and he enjoyed swimming, skiing and a little boxing. Maurice worked as a Machinist for John Wolever Advertising Artist. |
Maurice enlisted on 7 November 1940 (while the US was still neutral and without taking an oath to the King) and after training he was posted to the UK. He embarked from Canada on 20 July 1941, arriving at 3PRC on 31 July 1941. He then continued to 2 S.S. 16 August 1941, 1 A.A.S. on 31 October 1941, 10 OTU 25 November 1941, and 138 Squadron 12 May 1942. Maurice sadly lost his life the following year on 14 March 1943 aged 20 years. |
