Miscellaneous Information
James was born on 26 July at St. John, New Brunswick. Both parents were born in New Brunswick, his father at St. John and his mother at Fairville. His father worked as a clerk at New Brunswick L.C.B. He had eight siblings. He attended St. Peter’s School 1929 -1937, then St. Vincent High. 1937-1941 (grade XI), followed by St. John High, (grade XII). His sport interests were hockey, baseball and badminton and he enjoyed building model aircraft. He was still a student when he enlisted. |
James enlisted on 13 January 1942 and after training embarked from New York on 9 March 1943. He arrived at 3PRC on 18 March and then proceeded to 9(0) AFU on 17 May 1943, 22 OTU 16 June 1943, 1659 CU 31 August 1943, and 1659 CU on 15 September 1943. |
