Reason for Loss | One engine failed, after which the pilot lost control and gave the order to abandon, which P/O Mitchell complied with. The pilot subsequently regained control and was able to return the aircraft safely to base. Sadly, P/O Mitchell drowned and his body was picked up the following day by a Royal Navy warship. |
