Miscellaneous Information
Joseph was born at Edam, Saskatchewan on 10 August 1922. His father was born at Victoriaville, Quebec and worked as a labourer and his mother was born at Lethbridge, Alberta. The schools he attended were Melfort Public. 1928-1937 then Melfort High 1937-1940.(General studies). He enjoyed most sports including hockey, swimming, rugby and basketball. Joseph worked as a hardware clerk between 1940-1941 then he enlisted on 7 March 1941. |
After training he was sent to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 24 January 1942. After arriving at 3 PRC on 10 February 1942 he went on to 12 S.F.T.S on 1 April 1942, 24 OTU 25 August 1942, 1658 CU 23 November 1942 and 158 Squadron on 4 January 1943. Just a few short days later, this young man sadly lost his life on 9 January 1943. |
