Miscellaneous Information
Hugh was born on 12 August at Toronto, Ontario. His father was born at Toronto and he was a Jeweller, his mother was born in Caledonia, Ontario. He had brothers Sidney, and David and one sister, Mary. Hugh attended Brown School, 1928-1936, then Upper Canada College 1936-1939 and again in 1940-1941. He was at North Toronto Collegiate Institute 1939-1940. He spent five years in the Upper Canada College Cadet Battalion. His sport interests were hockey, rugby, cricket and baseball. his hobby was playing the piano. |
Hugh enlisted on 2 June 1941 and after training was sent to the U.K. where he arrived at 3PRC on 30 July 1942. He then went to 10 (0) AFU 7 August 1942, 22 OTU 1 September 1942 and 427 Squadron 7 November 1942. |
