Thomas was born on 13 May 1920 in Quyon, North Onslow. His father was born in Quebec and worked as a Miller and his mother was born in Fort Calgary. He went to school at Quyon Separate school 1928-1936 (public) and Quyon High School 1936-1937 (Matric). His sport interests were hockey, baseball, softball and swimming. Thomas worked as a Hardware clerk 1937- 1938. When the firm closed down he then went as a Motor Man to the Aunor Gold Mine, 1939-1941. |
He enlisted on 7 July 1941 and after training embarked from Canada on 13 March 1942. He arrived at 3 PRC on 24 March 1942 and went to 3085 Echelon Common 18 April 1942, Fairwood Common 3 May 1942, 415 Sqn. 1 January 1943, R.A.F. Leeming 31 March 1943. |
