Miscellaneous Information
| Royden was born on 26 July 1922 at Toronto. Both parents were born in London, England and his father worked as a clerk for C.N.R. He went to the following schools in Montreal: Montreal East and Drummond 1928-1935 (General course) and then Montreal High and Baron Byng High 1935-1940 (Jnr. Matric Science). His sport interests were hockey, rugby,baseball, swimming, tennis and occasionally Fishing. During the school holidays of 1938-1939 he worked as a messenger for the Canada Blue Print Co.for six months before returning to school, and then as a laboratory assistant testing oils for the British American Oil Company in Montreal from July to December 1940. |
| Royden enlisted on 20 May 1941 and after training embarked from Canada on 30 April 1942 arriving at 3 PRC on 13 May 1942. He went on to 2(0) AFU. 15 June 1942, 22 OTU 21 July 1942 and 420 Squadron 1 October 1942. |
