Operation | Laon |
Reason for Loss | After attacking targets west of Laon, the aircraft was badly shot about by enemy fighters (some reports say anti-aircraft fire) and force-landed by the pilot, George Ebert, at Congy in an effort to get medical help for Sgt. Jones. Jones was rushed to Épernay Hospital where he sadly died later the same day. The aircraft was abandoned although eye-witness reports suggest that it was later recovered by ground crew. |
