Miscellaneous Information
Joseph was born on 11 December 1913 at Tingwick, P.Q. Both parents were born in Tingwick and his father was the foreman of a lumber yard. He had several siblings: William Edward, Charles Lawrence, James Albert and George Leonard and sisters, Mary Cecelia and Lillian Mary. Joseph went to the following Schools: Luke Callaghan, Mem. Montreal 1920-1929 and O’Sullivan’s Business College, Montreal 1929-1930. Joseph also took a 10 week Canadian Legion Course. He wasn’t involved in a lot of sport but enjoyed skiing and golf. He worked as a Stenographer for Grenville Crushed Rock Co. from 1930 onwards and then enlisted on 28 April 1942. |
After training, he was sent to the U.K., arriving at 3PRC on 5 June 1943. He was then at 5 AOS 23 August 1943, 24 OTU 21 September 1943, 1659 CU 23 January 1944, 419 Sqn 28 February 1944 and 405 squadron 30 April 1944. Sadly Joseph lost his life on 21 July 1944. |
