Miscellaneous Information
Robert was born on 14 July 1922 at Blackie, Alberta. His father, a farmer, was born in Kansas , Missouri, USA; his mother at Blenheim, Ontario. The schools Robert attended were Mossleigh, 1927-1938 grades 1-10 and again in 1939-1941, grade 11. He also went to Herronton school 1938-1939 (Jnr. Matric and High School Entrance). The sports Robert engaged in were hockey and softball. As he was still a student when he enlisted. |
Robert enlisted on 11 July 1941 and after training embarked from Halifax on 16 May 1943. He arrived at 3 PRC on 24 May then went on to 1 (C) OTU 12 August 1943, 2 PDC on 7 October 1943, Gibraltar 23 October 1943 and 48 Squadron on 14 October 1943. |
