Wellington Mk.IlI DF639 AA-N, RAF 75 (NZ) Sqn - In de nacht van 6 op 7 Oktober 1942 stegen 237 Britse bommen-werpers op voor een aanval op Osnabrück Rond 23:00 ur werd de Wellington waargenomen door en Duitse Do 217J D5+ LH nachtjager, gevlogen door Leutnant Hans Krause. Niet veel later werd de Wellington op een hoogte van onderschept en aangevallen. Het toestel werd zoda- 3100 metres nig beschadigd dat het al snel neerstortte
Translation "Wellington Mk.IlI DF639 AA-N, RAF 75 (NZ) Sqn - On the night of 6 to 7 October 1942, 237 British bombers took off for an attack on Osnabrück. Around 23:00 hrs, the Wellington was sighted by a German Do 217J D5+ LH nightfighter flown by Leutnant Hans Krause. Not much later, the Wellington was intercepted at an altitude of 3100 meter and attacked. The aircraft was damaged to such an extent that it crashed not much later" |
