Operation | Gelsenkirchen Scholven- 21 aircraft detailed but 13 turned back due to visibility. The remainder bombed into significant smoke cover so results could not be observed. |
Reason for Loss | Pilot reported a good bombing run with what appeared to be concentrated results. The aircraft has hit by flak just after bombing, rendering the starboard inner engine and oxygen supply inoperative and killing Sgt Ford. The engine was feathered and the aircraft made an otherwise safe return to base, landing at 18:10 hrs. |
