Miscellaneous Information
Donald was born at Woodstock, Oxford County, on 4 April 1924. His father was born in Devon, England and he worked as an inspector and his mother was born in Woodstock. He had a brother William Northcott and a sister Catherine Sara. The schools he attended were McHugh Public School, Woodstock, 1930-1938 ( High School Entrance), U.S.S. Eastnor & Albemarle High School, Pike Bay, Ontario 1938-1941 (Vocational) and Woodstock Collegiate Institute. 1941-1942 (grade XI). The two sports he played were hockey and baseball. He worked for five months as a grocery clerk. Donald was a Private in the Army Cadets, Woodstock 1938-1942 until enlistment. |
After enlisting on 26 November 1942 he went through basic training until embarking from Halifax on 1 November 1943 bound for the U.K. He arrived at 3(RCAF)PRC on 10 November 1943 and then went to 12 OTU 14 December 1943, 31 Base 17 March 1944 and 115 Squadron 11 June 1946. Donald was twenty years old when he lost his life on 17 September 1944. |
