| Reason for Aircraft Loss | Took off 19.10 hours on 10 April 1945 from Foulsham on RCM duties in support of a No. 5 Group Operation. A witness made the following statement regarding an aircraft crash: "At about midnight a four engine British bomber approached the village of Zaasch from the North. It was on fire and exploded in the air, scattering burning wreckage over a large area. The majority of the remains landed some two hundred metres North of the village cemetery". Flight Sergeant M.J.Hibberd, 435342 RAAF Rear Gunner survived to become a PoW. |
