Miscellaneous Information
Robert was born on 18 January 1923 In Hamilton, Ontario. His parents were both born in Hamilton, where his father worked as a hotel manager. He had a brother Jack and a married sister Joan. The schools he attended were: Ryerson Public, Hamilton 1929-1935; (General) Westdale Collegiate 1935- 1936 (9th Grade) and Westdale Tech. Hamilton 1936-1937 (Technical). Robert’s hobby was photography and his sport interests were hockey, football, tennis and boxing. He worked for the Hamilton Spectator as a mailer and later as an apprentice Pressman between 1937-1942 when he enlisted. |
Robert enlisted on 3 November 1942 and after training embarked for the U.K. on 10 April 1944. He arrived at 3PRC on 19 April 1944, 2 (0) AFU 16 May 1944, 24 OTU 13 June 1944, 61 Base 13 September 1944, and 428 Squadron on 12 November 1944. He sadly lost his life six weeks later. |
