Miscellaneous Information
Born 12 June 1914 in Salford, Manchester. |
He was the youngest of seven children. Tragically both his parents died within three months of each other late in 1917, when he was just 3 years old. They were only 40 and 37 years old. In the 1939 England and Wales Register he is living with the Whitworth family in Thornton-Cleveleys, just north of Blackpool and he is a joiner. John Whitworth, head of the family, and his Son Leonard, who is just 20 days younger than Samuel, are both Master Butchers. Samuel marries Vera (Marshall) in April 1942 in Fylde, Lancashire, they have been married less than 6 months when he is lost on Operations. |
