Miscellaneous Information
Thomas was born at Toronto, Ontario on 11 January 1922. Both parents were born in Toronto and his father was a Firefighter. He went to Hughes School between 1927-1936 followed by Western Technical school 1936-1938 where he studied motor mechanics. His sport interests were football, tennis, track, baseball, hockey and skiing. Thomas worked as a helper at Canada Bread, Danforth Plant between 1938-1940. He enlisted on 21 March 1940. |
He embarked from Canada after initial training and was posted to the U.K. where he arrived at 3PRC on 28 June 1941. He was then at 10 OTU on 7 July 1941, 51 Sqn 15 August 1941, and 405 Squadron on 26 April 1942. Sadly Thomas was to lose his life on 9 June 1942 |
