Miscellaneous Information
Joseph was born in Kingscroft, Quebec on 11 December 1916. His father, a farmer, was born at St. Charles P.Q. and his mother (died 1927) at Coatecook, P.Q. He had three brothers Gaston, Emile and Leo and sisters Gisel and Margaret. The school Joseph attended was St. John’s Rumford, Maine, USA 1921-1930 (Grades 1-8). Between 1930 and 1936 he was working on his father’s farm. Then between 1936-1942 he worked as a salesman at North Eastern Sales, Lewiston, Maine. His sport interests were baseball, basketball, football and hockey. Joseph had lived in Rumford, Maine, for twenty years although was still a Canadian citizen. He enlisted on 10 September 1942 and after training embarked from New York on 8 October 1943 and arrived in the U.K. at 3PRC on 17 October 1943. He then went to 23 OTU on 26 October 1943, 61 Base 18 February 1944 and 1664 HCU on 27 February 1944. Sadly Joseph lost his life from there the following month on 16 March 1944. |
