Miscellaneous Information
Donald was born on 17 December 1913 in Mabou, Nova Scotia in Inverness County. Both parents were also both born in Mabou and his father worked as a Steam Fitter. He attended Mabou Public School 1925- 1928 and St. Joseph’s Convent, 1928-1930. The sports in which Donald was interested were Baseball, Hockey, Swimming and Boxing. Donald had no specific occupation but worked on and off for his father as a Steam Fitter’s helper, 1930-1940. |
He enlisted on 18 July 1940 and after training embarked for the U.K. on 5 April 1941. He arrived at 3 PRC 20 April 1941, 19 OTU 18 August 1941, 77 Sqn 29 August 1941, 24 OTU 28 April 1942 and 138 Squadron 5 February 1943 |
