Robert was born on 15 March 1921 at Montreal. His father was born in Montreal and worked as a factory manager and his Mother was born in London, England. The schools he attended were Lachine High, 1926-1930. Lower Canada College , Montreal 1931-1933, Iona School, Montreal. 1934-1935, West Hill High 1935-1940 (science) and then Sir George William’s College 1940- 1941 .He then enlisted on 30 September 1941. The sports Robert enjoyed included swimming, skiing and his hobby was photography. |
After enlisting and initial training Robert was posted to the U.K. and arrived there on 5 November 1942. He then went to 15 (P) AFU on 19 November, 22 OTU 23 February 1943, 1664 CU 23 June 1943 and 405 Squadron on 30 August 1943. Sadly Robert was to lose his life the following year on 7 May 1944 from 405 Squadron. |
