Douglas was born on 9 July 1920 at Ottawa, Ontario. His mother was born in Ottawa and father in Westboro, Ottawa. He attended Devonshire Public school 1927-1935 (High school entrance) and Glebe Collegiate Institute, Ottawa 1935-1940 ( Jnr. Matric). The sports he enjoyed were football, swimming, skiing, and basketball and he played the trumpet in the School band. He also enjoyed tinkering with car engines. There is no occupation shown as Douglas was still a student. |
He enlisted on 22 October 1940 and after training embarked from Canada on 1 November 1943. He arrived at 3 (RCAF) PRC 10 November 1943, 15 (P) AFU 14 March 1944, 82 OTU 23 May 1944, 61 Base 17 July 1944, 1664 CU 31 July 1944 and 428 Squadron 1 September 1944. His AFC appeared in the Gazette on 2 June 1932. Douglas was to lose his life from 428 Squadron on 2 February 1945. |
