In de nacht van 22 op 23 Juni 1943 was de viermotorige Engelse Halifax bommenwerber W7930 EY-W op weg naar het Ruhrgebied om deel te nemen aan de luchtstrijd. Het toestel werd aangeschoten door luchtafweergeschut bij Soesterberg Ten zuidwesten van Renswoude volgde een fataal luchtgevecht met een Duitse nachtjager. De Halifax stortte neer op de boerderij "De Wetering" welke volledig werd verwoest De zeven bemanningsleden van de Engelse bommenwerner kwamen allen om het leven. De bewoners van de boerderij de familie Vlastüin kwamen met de schrik vrij
Translation "On the night of 22 to 23 June 1943, the four-engine English Halifax bomber W7930 EY-W was on its way to the Ruhr area to take part in the air battle. The aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire near Soesterberg Southwest of Renswoude, a fatal dogfight with a German fighter followed. The Halifax crashed on the farm "De Wetering" which was completely destroyed. The seven crew members of the English bomber were all killed. The inhabitants of the Vlastüin family farm escaped with fright" |

| Operation | Mülheim. 557 aircraft, 35 losses (6.3%) A thin layer of cloud hampered PFF marking efforts which were, nevertheless accurate (as detailed by the German report on the raid). As a result the bombing was concentrated and devastated this small town. All communications were cut off from Oberhausen, on which Mülheim was dependent for emergency services. 578 deaths and 1135 homes destroyed. A post war British report put the damage at 64% of the town. |
