| Reason for Loss | Possible claim by Uffz. Herbert Hänel of 12./JG1 - 541-7: at 200-300m at 13:25 hrs. Crashed into the North Sea 15 km West of Texel. Uffz Hänel's aircraft (FW190) was hit by debris from the Wellington and crashed. Uffz. Hanel did not survive. He has no known grave. The body of Sgt. Beath was washed ashore on the island of Mandø on 25 February 1943 and was laid to rest in Fovrfelt cemetery in Esbjerg on 4 March 1943. (Airwar Over Denmark) |
