Miscellaneous Information
Donald was born on 19 November 1921 at Bow Island, Alberta. His father was born at Moncton, New Brunswick and worked as a Service Station proprietor and fuel retailer and his mother was born in Bangor, Michigan, USA. He had brothers Albert and Ralph and a sister Marion. The school he attended was at Bow Island between 1927-1939 and then was at the Department of Education 1939-1940. Some of the sports he took part in were baseball, skating and swimming. Donald worked as a truck driver and Service Station attendant 1939-1941 and was also a Machinist for CPR during 1941. |
He enlisted on 4 August 1942 and after training was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Halifax on 30 March 1944, arriving at 3PRC (RAF) on 3 April before going on to 9(0) AFU 16 May, 1944, 20 OTU 21 June 1944, 41 Base 22 September 1944, 74 Base, then 158 Squadron 7 February 1944. Sadly Donald then lost his life on 23 February 1945. |

Despite this, the bombing was extremely accurate since the local report states that 300 high-explosive and 11000 incendiary bombs fell on the Krupps works alone. 155 civilians were killed |
