Miscellaneous Information
Kenneth was born on 26 January 1919 in Debec, Union Corner, Carleton County, New Brunswick. His father, a farmer, was born in Union Corner and his mother in Prince William, New Brunswick. She sadly died on 25 October 1940. Kenneth had one sister, Mrs. Wilma Winifred Brown who lived in Havana, Cuba. The schools he attended were: Union Corner, 1925-1935 (Grades 1 - 8 ) and Woodstock High, 1935-1937 (High School Course) from which Kenneth graduated with Honours. He also took a Commercial Course at Carleton Vocational School, 1937-1938. He worked from home on his father’s farm during the school vacations and later learned how to operate a combined harvester and truck. |
Kenneth enlisted on 21 June 1940 and after initial training was sent to the U.K. where he arrived at 3 PRC on 2 March 1941. He was then sent to 11 OTU on 15 March 1941, arriving at 214 Squadron on 8 June 1941. He lost his life just over two weeks later. |
He took part in softball, skiing, swimming and skating and for a hobby he enjoyed doing anything mechanical. Kenneth had spent two years in his local community undertaking mechanical work. |
