Miscellaneous Information
Clayton was born on 2 October 1919 in Montreal. His father, an Electrical Contractor, was born in Newport, USA and his mother in Montreal. They lived in Wolfe Street, Montreal. His schooling was at Lansdown Public, 1925-1930 (1st -4th year), Montreal High, 1930-1936 (5th-11th year Junior Matric),science. He then went on to McGill University 1936-1937 where he continued with general science for 1st year B.Sc., followed by Sir George Williams College 1937-1940 where he gained 9 credits in Science towards his Senior Matric. He was a laboratory assistant at Canadian Pulp and Paper, 1937-1938 and then merchandising between 1938-1940 for the Dominion Rubber Company until enlisting. |
Keith Enlisted on the 6 September 1940 and began his training. He became a Flying Instructor between 19 July 1941 until 15 November 1942 and then on 18 December 1942 he embarked for the U.K. He arrived at 14(P)AFU on 18 January 1943, 23 OTU on 9 March, 428 Sqn on 27 May and 432 Squadron on 26 June 1943. |
Keith’s hobby was photography and the sports he took part in were swimming, golf, skiing, rugby and gymnastics. |
