Miscellaneous Information
Robert was born in Montreal on 25 June 1916. His father was born in Campbelton, King’s County, New Brunswick and was a School Principal, and his mother was born in Sussex County. The schools Robert attended were: Edward V11. 1922-1925, William Dawson 1925-1927 and High School of Montreal 1927-1928 ( all elementary); High School of Montreal 1929-1934 (Science. Jnr Matric); McGill University 1934-1938 (Batchelor of Commerce degree) Also C.A and L.I.A. For sports he played tennis, golf, badminton and enjoyed skiing and sailing. He was a Boy Scout, Sea Scout and a coxswain. Robert worked at Hollinger Gold Mines as a labourer between June-August 1935 Perran Gold Mines, Perran as a labourer May-September 1937 (both of these in summer holidays). He then worked for Beatty Bros Ltd. for one year as an Internal Auditors Assistant and then for Creak, Cushing and Hodgson, (Chartered Accountants) 1938-1940 as a Junior Auditor |
He enlisted on 10 May 1940 and arrived at 3 PRC on 26 December 1940. He then went to 11 OTU on 5 January 1941 and 218 Squadron on 23 March 1941. Sadly, Robert was to lose his life from here a few weeks later on on 10 April 1941 |
