Reason for Loss | A fire broke out in the starboard engine, which was feathered. Shortly afterwards the port engine became problematic and a decision was made to make a controlled ditching. Crashed onto a slag bank on the shorline at Workington in an effort to get as close to shore as possible, to save lives. All survived but the navigator, who drowned. |
