| Reason for Loss | On navigation exercise during which the crew strayed off track. At 1250 or thereabouts the Wellington flew into a barrage balloon cable and crashed possibly in the area of Church Minshull 4 miles SW of Middlewich Cheshire. To date this was the highest death toll in a single OTU accident. |
