Miscellaneous Information
Allen was born on 6 May 1917 at Vancouver, Canada. His father was born in Croydon, Surrey, England and worked as an electrician (and was deceased by the time of Allen's enlistment) and his mother was born in London, England. He attended Lloyd George General school 1924-1925, followed by Stuart Wood General school, 1926-1930. These were then followed by Kamloops Junior High 1930-1933. The sports he enjoyed were baseball and hockey and his hobby was shooting. Allan worked as a mill hand for six months and then carried out seasonal work as a truck driver. He eventually settled as a Teller at the Royal Bank of Canada from 1936 onwards. |
He then enlisted on 14 December 1940. After training he was posted to the U.K. and departed from Halifax on 10 November 1941 arriving at 3 PRC in December1941. He was then at 2 SS 20 January 1942, 16 OTU 21 April 1942, 26 OTU 5 May, and 142 Squadron 15 August 1942. Sadly Allen died on 9 March 1943. |
